2023 has been an amazing year here at the Don’t Go Bacon My Heart HQ. I’ve managed to add a whole heap of delicious new recipes to the blog and I’ve gained hundreds of thousands of new followers, all whilst undertaking the small task of writing and releasing my Debut Cookbook. Yes, I’ve eaten a lot of food this year 😅
I’ll keep it short and sweet, but I couldn’t do this roundup without thanking you for eating along with me as I dream up new recipes. Whether you’ve been here a minute or the whole 8 and a half years, thank you for welcoming me into your kitchen. I can’t wait to see you again for another delicious year in 2024! ❤️
Top 5 Blog Recipes of 2023
These are based on the number of page visits from 1st Jan – 31st December. It’s always so interesting to see which recipes were the most popular of the year and this year’s Top 5 is VERY strong! Without further ado, let’s see which recipes rose to the top in 2023.
5. Spicy Chicken Pasta
This recipe has been a fan favourite since posting back in 2019 and is still clinging on to its Top 5 position!
4. Garlic Butter Chicken
One of the easiest dinners you can make, but always so rewarding. Another 2019 recipe holding on strong to the Top 5!
3. Tomato Butter Pasta
Fun fact – I almost didn’t post this recipe. I thought people might think it was odd and maybe wouldn’t share my love for the simplicity of the dish. But, it turns out it is hugely popular with so many others too!
2. Moussaka
I am SO happy to see this post in this year’s Top 5! It took me so long to develop, film and write up. To see the amazing reviews and all the hard work pay off has been so rewarding.
1. Cottage Pie Baked Potatoes
This recipe really did take my blog by storm this year. I do love it so much and it completely deserves the 2023 top spot!
Top 5 Most Viewed Videos of 2023
I thought it’d be fun this year to do a Top 5 most viewed recipe videos across social media. Some of the figures are quite astonishing and let’s just say it’s DEFINITELY been the year of the potato 😅 When a video goes viral and explodes across the internet it’s tricky to keep track of views on different platforms. As such, these are based on the collective views from me posting the video on Instagram, Facebook and TikTok.
5. Brie, Bacon and Cranberry Smashed Potatoes
21.8 million views
I only posted these last month so to see the video in the Top 5 is awesome! If you’ve followed me for a while you know I love a smashed potato, so to have this in the Top 5 is VERY fitting 🤣
4. Garlic Butter Sweet Potato Stacks
22.1 million views
This is the sister recipe to the number 3 spot. I can’t even begin to tell you how many of these I have devoured since coming up with the recipe!!
3. Cheesy Bacon Potato Stacks
22.3 million views
The original potato stack – this went bananas the minute I uploaded it. And rightly so – they’re absolutely irresistible!
2. Mashed Potato Gratin
24.7 million views
Another very recent post, this was uploaded just 5 weeks ago and has stormed its way to the number 2 spot! Because how can you resist potatoes on potatoes?! 😅
1. Cottage Pie Baked Potatoes

Top of the blog charts and top of the video charts, this recipe really was truly unstoppable in 2023. A well-deserved number 1 spot for the iconic cottage pie baked potatoes!
