The BEST Leftover Turkey recipe!

I mean, in my humble opinion of course. Leftover turkey can sometimes be a slight challenge to revive back to life, but you truly won’t be disappointed with this. Here’s why It think you’ll love it:

  • It’s quick
  • It’s super easy
  • Requires few ingredients
  • Bloomin’ delicious!

A grilled cheese is always my go-to to stuff in leftovers. Because everything tastes better stuffed between two slices of bread and loaded with cheese 😂 When it comes to making a turkey grilled cheese, it really couldn’t be more simple.

How to make a Turkey Grilled Cheese (quick summary)

  1. Place bread butter side down on pan with heat off.
  2. Spread with ranch.
  3. Top with cheese.
  4. Add leftover turkey and avocado.
  5. Top with Bacon.
  6. Add more cheese, spread with ranch and add more buttered bread. Fry both sides.

Top Tip #1 – To pack in some more flavour, consider adding red onion and tomato slices, both of which work gorgeously with the combo of turkey, avocado, cheese and bacon.

Turkey Melts

The best part of a grilled cheese is of course the melty cheese, so it’s important to get it right. I usually use cheddar which is always a solid choice. I have also used Swiss cheese in the past, which is always a great combo with turkey. If you want that classic melty, cheese pull then sub half of whatever cheese you’re using with mozzarella. You could use all mozzarella, it just won’t add as much flavour.

Turkey Panini

You could totally turn this grilled cheese into a panini! Just use ciabatta and adjust the filling amounts accordingly.

Can I sub chicken?

Yup! This works perfectly with chicken. You can also you deli style turkey/chicken.

Notes:

a) Leftover Turkey - I recommend using breast if you can. Here I slice, but you can also shred with two forks.
b) Turkey Sub - This grilled cheese work perfectly with chicken too! You can also use deli style chicken/turkey.
c) Cheese - I usually go for cheddar, but Swiss cheese also works great. If you want that classic cheese pull go half mozzarella with whatever cheese you choose. I place 1.5 slices per side, but you could also grate the cheese too. Approx 1.5 cups cheese would work, but work to preference.
d) Additions - Red onion and sliced tomato also work great in this grilled cheese!
e) Calories - per sandwich, using all cheddar and 4 tsp butter.

I may have to move up Thanksgiving dinner to get to this sandwich in my belly! I’m not a big fan of cranberry sauce so I am in love with the idea of using avocados – which I do love!!
